When will feature "X" be ready?

Unfortunately, we're unable to give specific release dates for features in development. 

Due to the vagaries of scheduling, testing, bug reports etc. we can only confirm that a feature is being worked on. It's been our experience that as soon as we say "It'll be ready on this date", something happens to push it back.  There's also the fact that answering those types of questions actually takes away from the time we can spend working on development and testing.

This means that we're unable to reply to queries such as "when will it be ready?" and  "are there any updates?" with anything specific. Frustrating, we know, but no one is more anxious to roll out new features than we are. We want to use them too!
