Swim
Comments: Other than a delayed start due to fog (cold temps, warm water) the swim went very well for me. I found a relaxed speed and focused on stroke length. What would you do differently?: More open water swim time. Transition 1
Comments: I took my time in transition. I put on my garmin, and made sure I was ready. I had issues getting the bike off the rack, it got stuck on someone else's bag. What would you do differently?: I need to come up with a solution for my garmin, and putting on my shoes and socks faster. Bike
Comments: I was able to get up to speed and then start in with an Odewalla Bar, I managed to consume that, while drinking water & NUUN. I found I really liked the NUUN on the bike. 2 hours into the race, I consumed a gu, then 3 hours into the race I had 1/4 of another Odewalla bar. The last hour of the bike, I found I wanted Gatorade more than just water, I had that with me and that worked. I ended up going to the bathroom at mile 40 and got rid of a bunch of fluids, I was glad to see I was hydrated enough to do so. What would you do differently?: I need to take time to measure the amount of liquids I consumed, I believe I carried way to many on me. I also need to focus more on the bike over the winter, and really get some early riding in next year. Transition 2
Comments: Again, no real push, I walked my bike to my transition. Put on my shoes, had issues with my visor, put on my running belt and number and was off. What would you do differently?: I need to consolidate what I take with me. I probably could have done without the belt, and just had one container of liquids in my shirt. Run
Comments: The run was strong at the beginning, I just burnt out at the end. I will be interested to see my splits from my garmin. This was all about conditioning. I did not have any issues with the first mile, I eased into the run, settled into a good pace, but after mile 6 I walked most of the hills and ran downhills :) What would you do differently?: Spend more time conditioning! Post race
Warm down: Walked up the hill to transition to grab bikes. What limited your ability to perform faster: Conditioning. Event comments: This was an awesome race, it was small, well run, organized and fun. The race director did an awesome job, even with the fog delay. Last updated: 2010-12-15 12:00 AM

Got up around 4am, terrible night sleep. Ate oatmeal for breakfast, with a bit of milk.
Light stretching and swim. Water was warm, air temp was cold.
