Total Time = 1h 13m 27s
Overall Rank = 202/512
Age Group = M35-39
Age Group Rank = 42/81
Pre-race routine:

Walked around the transition area to familiarise myself with where the swim in/bike out/run out were in relation to my setup area.
Swim
  • 09m 2s
  • 414 meters
  • 02m 11s / 100 meters
Comments:

Actual swim time was 8:36 but official time includes part of the run to T1. Was aiming for approx. 2:05/100m and hit it bang on
What would you do differently?:

Nothing bar learn to swim faster!
Transition 1
  • 01m 22s
Comments:

Somehow managed to miss my right pedal and the shoe jammed on the ground bring me to a complete stop!
What would you do differently?:

Start off in a lower gear so I can coast more easily whilst trying to get my feet on top of my shoes
Bike
  • 39m 4s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 19.09 mile/hr
Comments:

Pushed pretty hard from start to finish. Was hoping for a 19mph average, but didn't actually believe I'd manage it.
What would you do differently?:

Since it's the first time I've averaged over 19mph and I was able to finish the run without walking I would have to say I would do nothing differently
Transition 2
  • 01m 5s
Comments:

Still haven't practiced taking shoes off whilst on the bike so decided to unclip and dismount.
What would you do differently?:

Practice removing shoes and jumping off moving bike
Run
  • 22m 52s
  • 2.8 miles
  • 08m 10s  min/mile
Comments:

Kept an eye on HR for the first half mile to make sure I didn't go out too fast, then settled into a nice pace with a bit of a hard push at the end.
Seems running is still letting me down in the rankings even though it was one of my best race paces so far. Average heart rate was a little low so could have pushed a bit harder
What would you do differently?:

Start the final push a little earlier
Post race
Warm down:

Fluids, stretching and walking around for a bit

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Poor run pace

Event comments:

Very good race (which was won by Tim Don!). Will definitely be doing it again. Was aiming for a time of 1Hr14 so was pleasantly surprised.
