Comments: Had a good start. There was a couple guys to my right that I wanted to get over to at some point, but that never happened. Only 2 guys in the wave were ahead of me but I couldn't latch on with them, so there was no draft. The first leg was right into the chop which made things interesting. Caught the back of the first wave about 3/4 of the way to the first turn buoy. The second leg, chop was coming from left to right, so I did my best to breathe to the right as much as possible. I was inside of the buoy line here, as I had a good line to the next turn buoy. Traffic was sporadic the rest of the way and I picked my way through. The last leg of this course is always right into the sun. I found the orange buoys pretty quickly and sighted often to find the next one. Had the waves at our back and was able to catch a few of them for a nice push towards the finish. What would you do differently?: Not much. Transition 1
Comments: So my rack was the first one right as you enter transition. Made it easy to find my rack but also meant that about 7 seconds after getting out of the water I was at my bike, without much of my wetsuit off yet. So I had to stand there doing that instead of getting it down to my waist on the way in. Otherwise it was uneventful. Grass was sharp/prickly as usual. Timing for first 75 thru T1 was screwed up so we all got 1:30 taken off our bike. What would you do differently?: Get a better rack position! Bike
Comments: This was a good ride for me. I've been working hard on the bike to improve in the past few months and I think it paid off. This is the fastest I've ridden this course and definitely felt strong and felt like I held my own. The second loop was pretty busy with people starting their first loop. So had to be careful. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 2
Comments: This was smooth. My toes were numb from the cold. Otherwise, nothing special to report. Although I had some grass on my feet that bothered me on the run. 4/41AG 47/454OA Run
Comments: First couple of miles were tough as my toes were numb and I had a bit of a tough time getting into a good rhythm. The second loop was way better and I definitely negative split this. Felt really good. The temps were really good for running. What would you do differently?: Not much. Try to get into a groove earlier! My best 10k split in an Oly. Post race
Warm down: Had some food. Got on some warm clothes. Chatted with some folks. What limited your ability to perform faster: This was a good race for me. PR by 3 minutes and my fastest swim, bike, and run at this distance. Last updated: 2011-08-16 12:00 AM

Slept great the night before. Up and out the door and had breakfast in the car with a small cup of coffee. Got to race site around 8. Got packet and was all set up in transition by 8:45. Went back to car to warm up a bit and listen to some tunes.
I always like this race as a way of 'testing' myself at the end of the season. It's a good course, good competition and pretty convenient.
Ran for 10 minutes on first part of the run course. Couple hundred yards in the water just before my wave started.
