Overall Rank = 34/92

Age Group Rank = 32/66
Pre-race routine:

Wake up groggy from watching Kona till 9 PM eastern. Quick breakfast and drive to Miami
Event warmup:

Brief swim to get head in the game and talk with friends pre-race.

Swim
  • 15m 47s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 47s / 100 yards
Comments:

Swim was kind of crazy. They were making announcements about the buoy's but I didn't hear them. Was told one buoy got loose and we didn't have to go around. I followed the crowd.
Started at the front with aggressive swimmers. Was caught in some traffic and took a blow to the face. Had to re-adjust goggles. Ended up flailing a little at the start till I got my pace and rhythm and extended my stroke. Then I felt great.
What would you do differently?:

Listen better. Not get boxed in.
Transition 1
  • 00m 52s
Comments:

Small Transition area and close to swim finish make this a fast one.
What would you do differently?:

Not much.
Bike
  • 43m 9s
  • 16 miles
  • 22.25 mile/hr
Comments:

Without the hills, this was a very different race. I pushed it a bit on the bike. Not consistent with my power, but worked hard to get a good speed, even with the wind.
Legs felt a little fatigued, maybe due to yesterdays ride. Overall, very happy.
What would you do differently?:

Train More.
Transition 2
  • 00m 52s
Comments:

Easy transition. Didn't rush it, but also didn't take visor, bandana, etc.
What would you do differently?:

Run a little faster? Practice with Socks?
Run
  • 35m 50s
  • 4.4 miles
  • 08m 08s  min/mile
Comments:

Great run, close to a PR for me. Went out comfortable hard. Used a run walk system, and I think it payed off.
Threw water over my head, had some electrolytes. Worked hard to keep going.
What would you do differently?:

Run More
Post race
Warm down:

Cheer in my friends! Have a croissant.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Some fatigue.

Event comments:

Great race. Like the idea of a championship! Would do it again, but wish it had been the longer version.
