Pre-race routine:

got up and ate breakfast (the usual, cereal, fruit, coffee) at 7 a.m.

Event warmup:

the start was at my kids' elementary school around the corner. walked and jogged for ten minutes. Ran into several members of Tri-team and chatted.

Comments:

the race was supposed to start at 10, but due to workers on the railroad tracks (which we needed to cross), we needed to wait for a freight train to go by, which wasn't until 10:25. I was a bit overdressed and thirsty at the beginning of the race.

Ran a steady 8:30 pace the whole race. Felt good!

What would you do differently?:

wear shorts

Event comments:

This race is the kick-off event for the annual West Acton Oktoberfest -- a gret community event with performances, kids games, cotton candy, demonstrations from the Fire Dept., etc... A beautiful fall day! The whole community is out at the start and finish.
