Comments: Cold and raining at the beginning of the race. Coming down the homestretch there was a wicked headwind - 30 gusting to 50 km/h. Made my final sprint to the finish a not-so-enjoyable occasion. I finished the first 5k in 28:38 or so, then took about a 40 second walk break to drink some water... about 1/2 way around the last lap, I walked for about another 15 seconds to have to some more water. Didn't seem to hurt my time, in fact, probably was able to finish more strongly because of the walks. What would you do differently?: Maybe try 10 and 30s run/walk breaks Post race
Warm down: A short walk to the water station followed by stretching. Drank 3 cups of water, a couple of orange wedges, and a hot chocolate. What limited your ability to perform faster: Headwind on the final quarter. Legs were toast. Event comments: Great race, and not too bad a turnout for such a miserable morning. Up at 6, shower, had a protein shake with some oatmeal and some water.
Ran about 1/2 a mile, then stretched out the muscles pretty good.
