Precipitation
Total Time = 51m 6s
Overall Rank = 648/5500?
Age Group = F30-39
Age Group Rank = 177/1263
Pre-race routine:

A little frantic walking in the rain to the race site where I learned that someone else accidentally claimed my bib/chip. Luckily for me, I ran faster than "the other Sunessa" with my new bib/chip.
Event warmup:

None to speak of since it was icky, rainy, and crowded.
Run
  • 00m
  • 6.21 miles
  •  min/mile
Comments:

I was happy to see my split times dropping as I kept running
What would you do differently?:

More mental work on quick foot strikes mid-race since that's when I usually slow-down. Everything else went really well, perfect!
Post race
Warm down:

I got chilly quickly once I stopped running. Going for pizza and pedicure was a brilliant idea from my running buddy, Rosanna. Nothing like bubbly warm water and a foot massage plus pretty painted toes to make me feel incredible good and girly! ;-)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I felt that I did my very best, and that's good enough.

Event comments:

It only would've been better if I could've met up with the other BTers, but we'll have to do that another time.

I'm happy with yesterday's race -- having run the same course/race 4x since 2001 now I can see my splits and times dropping. I was a full minute faster than last year, and my pace was just under 8:15/mile, which is terrific for me!

Thanks for reading, cheering, and competing, -Sunny

Great job on your race and beautiful time. We will definetly catch up at one of these races, if not hopefully at the bike ride Max and Laura organized. What other races are you thinking up this fall? I haven't checked any and need to keep the momentum going.

Congratulations again on a great race and a great recovery plan too!!

Hey Nikki,
I look forward to that bike ride...need to remind myself of the details, and hope it all works for us.

As for next races, there's a lovely 10K in Portsmouth, NH next weekend:
Bridges 4 Friendship 10K

I ran it last year and will run it again this year -- it's all along the coast and very scenic!
Cheers, -Sunny

Not sure i'll make the Oct 15th bridges run. I have my kids that weekend, and though they are a great support at my races, Portsmouth is a hike for us. My son has football early on Sunday. The weekends they are with their dad, I am more flexible. Keep me posted on any races if you think of it though..and thanks for letting me know about that one.

That's OK -- it's most likely going to be raining anyway, and I'm still sore from the 10K on Monday, so I shouldn't race again just yet.

I'm sure we'll connect some other time around here! Maybe a bike ride, but sadly, I can't do the Boston area BT ride on 10/23. Surely there will be other options, or we'll create them.

And to Marina, thanks for the speeedy compliment -- I actually did feel "fast" in that race, surprisingly so!

Cheers, -Sunny
