Ahhh, my transplanted home. Places to hit up:
1) Hound Dogs Pizza. A columbus legend. Open late, a bit scary at times, wait staff is just tryin' to make a buck, but holy crap the pizza is great. Get the smokin' joes crust. (it's on High St.)

2) High St. is basically the place to go. There's the High St. where OSU is that has a lot of bars/clubs/college-y type places. Cheap drinkin'. Careful though, I wouldn't go alone as a girl. THen there's the "Short North" which is sort of a gay/liberal/artistic bar scene. Every coule of saturdays there's the "Gallery Hop" which is a bunch of drinking and gallery hopping. Very good for networking. Eclectic crowd, less rowdy than High St. south. Arena District is good too. Easton Mall has some clubs/bars too. A little more upscale.

3) If you're into the laid-back stuff, German Village is really cool. You MUST visit the Book Loft. It's a staple. Shmidit's Restaurant Und Sausage Haus is also highly recommended (lots of protein for a post-race pick me up!).

4) There's lot of metro parks/gardens around here that are cool to hang out in as well.

5) Unfortunately, columbus is *NOT* the most bike friendly city. Beware.

6) COSI is cool (science center). There's also Ballet Met and Columbus Museum of Art. There's the Wexner Center at OSU, and Columbus College of Art and Design (right next to the Museum of Art). Most places offer reduced admission at some point and time. Columbus Museum has free sunday admission.

7) and for cheap entertainment, my college, Otterbein (on the outer belt in Westerville), has regular opera/musical theater/music productions for cheap.

The arena district in downtown Columbus has a lot of cool restaurants and bars. There is a Hyatt at Nationwide Square which would be in walking distance to all of that. They usually have reasonable rates. Actually, I've had good luck with hotwire.com in getting some great hotel rates in downtown Columbus. You might want to try that.
