Comments: This was my tune-up for the California International Marathon. I had registered for a half-marathon yesterday and made it to the starting line only to puss out because of a storm that rolled in. So at the last minute I found this small group race with the Rocky Mountain Road Runners. I do a lot of my speedwork with this group and I know some of the runners. One particular guy is fast and smoked me on a recent 10k... I was really please to beat him by nearly 4 minutes today. I guess you could say that beating him was my main priority... I sort of lost track of the fact that I was supposed to run slightly faster than my marathon pace (6:30 - 6:45) and ran all of my miles sub 6:10 with my last 2 miles sub 6:00 minutes... Overall a superior run. A great confidence builder with less than a month to go before my marathon. What would you do differently?: Maybe stick to my race plan... however, It felt good to run fast today! ![]() Post race
Warm down: I had a gingerale and two cookies... then ran about a mile warm down run... What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing... I ran fast today... I finished very strong and still had gas in the tank. Event comments: Great run, great race... bring on the California International Marathon... 3:00's is going down!!! Got up pretty early and made a pot of joe, had four slices of wheat toast with Health Balance spread... got to the race early and shared a bottle of Riptide Rush Gatorade with Lilia.
Very light stretching... ran to the port-o-potty and back (about 200m)
