Subject: RE: Personal Training As an ex-fitness professional (Managed clubs for 8 years ). I would highly recommend ACSM or NSCA. ACSM is more for fitness, versus NSCA for sport. There are many others though. I have always found that your education is a big part of the job as well. I have a degree in Kinesiology, and never had a problem getting a good job, so I never saw the benefit of a certification. The incentive ($$$ ) isn't there. If where you want to train requires a certification and you have a degree, then go for what is easiest and cost effective. If you are getting certified in lew of a degree, then ACSM will show people that you know your stuff. It is an extremely hard certification and takes a lot of training to complete. |
