Subject: log primer?
Hello,

So I have training log envy. I wanna make mine nifty like Marina's and Possum's and like that. Is there somewhere on BT that has instructions on how to make things cool and colorful? I can't even make my colored typing show up as anything but black--I am challenged.

thanks!

You bring up a good point.  Most of that colorful stuff is done with html or the wysiwyg editor using tables and such....which can be time-consuming if unfamiliar.

Perhaps marmadaddy can come up with some default colored tables and such that we can officially post and all you need to do is fill in the text...

Sure. Give me a couple days. If anyone else who's good at this sort of thing wants to contribute, feel free.

One thing that folks should be aware of is that there are three different options of text editors for entering forum posts and short and long term goals. The default is a very simple one with no table creation, colored text or any other goodies. Of the other two choices, one has capabilities like Notepad and the other is more like MS Wordpad.

To choose one of these, do the following:

  • Go to your Control Panel
  • Scroll down and find "Use rich edit box when composing messages?" under your signature.
  • You'll have a choice of No, Yes, and TinyMCE Editor (Experimental).

'No' leaves you with just straight text editting, 'Yes' will give you formatting and list and table creation options and TinyMCE Editor (Experimental) will give you a more full featured editor. Note that it's labelled Experimental for a reason. The results can be a little flaky.

Important: I've noticed that sometimes 'the cool stuff' doesn't render correctly just by cutting and pasting if you don't have one of the advanced editors selected. If you want tables and such, you should set this to either 'Yes' or 'TinyMCE Editor (Experimental)' even if you're just copying something from another place.
