Pre-race routine:

Ate 1/2 Clif Bar with coffee, Drove 1 hr 45 min to race,Picked up packet, Put on race number, Put bike and helmet on rack, then shivered in the freezing rain until race start.

Really felt good despite the freezing rain and 40 degree temp. My legs felt great.

Well, I could always run faster.

Time was good. We had to run up a short hill out of the transition area to get to a flat spot to get on the bike, that was not good.

I did okay I thought.

Feet felt numb after bike, but I did okay once the feeling started coming back. I felt pretty good. The course was REALLY Muddy around the finish.

Warm down:

Hot Chocolate! Found a warm, dry spot and changed into some dry cloths!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Headwind.

Event comments:

I got 2nd place in my age group! yeah!! After all the racing in the cold, rain and mud, we had to have our van (along with many others) pulled out of the muddy field we had to park in. Needless to say we went straight home, took a hot shower and bundled up the rest of the day. :)
