Pre-race routine:

Rough one. Had a party last night and ended up getting home at 1AM. By the time I packed it was 1:30 and couldn't fall a sleep til 2AM. Ate a PB&J @ 1:30 AM as the Last Supper.
Event warmup:

FC and I walked from the car to the starting line which was approx 1/4 mile.
Run
  • 2h 32m 36s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 11m 39s  min/mile
Comments:

Because of my throat infection and cold, I was happy with my results. If I said any different I'd be bull$hitting. I ran MY OWN RACE and beat my mind as it was pushing to go faster.

Form was good and so were my Brooks Adrenaline G6. WHAT A SHOE. Sensei was right again!
What would you do differently?:

Sleep in a Hyperbaric Chamber for 2 weeks before the race to avoid catching my kids cold and throat infection. Wear nipple protectors- man they are sore!
Post race
Warm down:

Walk Walk Walk. Stretch and eat a few things. Endurox R4 is always a winner.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Being sick and racing on 2 hours sleep.

Event comments:

PR put up a great race that is sure to grow. Next year I'll shoot for 26.2.

Everything was GREAT. From event planning to weather. FC- thanks again for your direction and camaraderie and for introducing this into my lifestyle. Also thanks for introducing me to Peet's eventhough I can't drink coffee anymore anywhere else.

Oh yeah, "Other Dude" took his talking pills today as he was goin nuts.

Way to tough it out, my friend!! Glad you didn't kill yourself out there. I wish I knew who the hell all these people are you are always talking about!!

I've had some of my best races on 2-3 hours sleep. But not sick! Coffee - mandatory. Good. Hot. Yummy.

When are you coming to Tampa again? What about Gasparilla?

Sorry to hear about the cold. That sucks. I have raced on 3 hours sleep but not a 1/2. Great job, glad to hear you were happy with your time. That is what is important. Get some rest and get rid of that cold!!
