Comments:

I felt good on the run. I was in the mood to run all day. I felt as though I could have.
What would you do differently?:

Push the pace just a tiny bit more.
Transition 1
  • 04m 22s
Comments:

Sucked it up and was embarrassed cause I couldn't clip in. No excuses, but I was riding an OLD bike that has the small clips not like my LOOK clips, but it was still embarassing until I did it and took off.
What would you do differently?:

Put my cycling shoes on BEFORE I ran off with my bike.

Comments:

Again, had problems with the OLD bike. I remember spilling GU on the shifters in a race last ear. The shifters were stuck. I could only change the bi ring, fun!
What would you do differently?:

Prep my bike better.
Transition 2
  • 03m 23s
Comments:

I do none of the above.
What would you do differently?:

Go faster!
Run
  • 34m 19s
  • 2 miles
  • 17m 10s  min/mile
Comments:

Didn't have it in my tank to do sub 15 min miles. I was not happy. Missed my goal of 1:45:00 for the rcae, but some of that were the really bad transition times as well as the wind, but no excuses.
What would you do differently?:

Faster transitions and push harder on both runs.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Uh, weight and a little wind.

Event comments:

Good red beans and rice. My friend Matt, made the comment that they actually had some when I finished. Usually all the food and people are almost or totally gone when I finish. But the problem was I was in no mood to eat at that moment. Isn't it ironic, don't you think?

I kept my HR to a minimum, hoping to pace for the whole race in order to do sub 15 minute miles on second 2 miles.
Course: course was flat and fast. Nothing to it really, couple of little turns, but that doesn't effect me.

These winds must have been horrific. I am supposed to do 50 in them tomorrow, we shall see. Good start to the season, great to see your race report. By the way really enjoyed the tri camp stuff. I gotta do that!!

Nice way to start out the season, Chris.  Looks like some of your races you have for this year will be the same as ours.  Hopefully we'll run into each other along the way.  Keep it up.

Nice job kickin' off the season, Chris.

That must have been pretty frustrating dealing w/ the old bike. GRRRrrr... But, you stuck with it and got the job done!

What's next?

Good one Chris, you looked pretty strong out there. I high-fived you on the first run, and hollered at you on the bike. Saw you finish, but didn't see you after. Have to catch you next time.

You were a real inspiration to all of us BOPers yesterday. My husband, who doesn't race and could use to lose a few pounds himself, said he was very moved seeing you come in and may actually start training with me. I look forward to racing with you again.

By the way, the bike was much better on the way back, wasn't it?
