I am wondering if GU is safe to take or gives any crazy side effects?
I am sort of a freak when it comes to taking stuff, A hypochondriac if you will.

The 80's were very good to me with non over the counter mind enhancers and now I freak out when I have to ingest anything that is not food, sort of anxiety I guess. I have trouble even taking aspirin, just because I worry about the side effects. I swear im normal.

So I am just wondering before I try GU, Am I going to be jittery like James Brown sitting on a hot plate or get loopy anyway. I have tried redbull, but that makes me shake all over the place and feels like my heart is going to jump out of my chest, we dont like that.

Just looking for a heads up.

Steve

You should be fine. Gu is just carbs with some added stuff (sodium, potassium, Vitamin A & C). Nothing to worry 'bout or get you all jittery...unless you're jittery about taking it.

I would highly recommend trying it first before you use it on a workout. Try it out sometime during the day when nothing is really going on. Also, be sure to drink water with it like it says!

Should be no problem... Some do have caffeine in them you may want to avoid that, but it is clearly labeled that way... Gi in general is very safe and a great way to get your carbs in.

also Gu is mostly maltodextrine (complex carbs) so it won't give you that sugar spike and crash.  It does have a little bit of fructose in it tho, so you will get somewhat of a rush.  I've never had it, but others have claimed to experience it.  I do wonder how many of those accounts were really related to eating the caffeinated ones and not realizing it.

Gu is a food.  It contains nothing more than a bowl of cereal.  I like the orange burst.

The caffeinated ones do give you more of a rush than the non-caffeinated ones.  I find that they work a little better for me caffeinated, especially during/after a run.  If you want to avoid that, steer clear of the Vanilla Bean and Espresso Love - the espresso actually has twice as much caffeine.  I don't know if others are caffeinated.

Expresso Love is some good tasting GU - I must say.
