Comments: Just for the hell of it, I lined up right at the starting line and took off like a missile, which allowed me to lead the entire field for about 50 yards... then I slowed down and they caught me :) I think this jackrabbit strategy was helpful in knocking another 1:09 off my 5K time, setting up another PB. I seemed to catch my breath more quickly than in my previous two races... if I can just get a rhythm established in that first quarter mile, I seem to do a lot better. What would you do differently?: Double-knot my shoes next time! I was in the last turn and my right shoe came untied at the last little hill. I thought my shoe might stay on, but I stopped and tied it, probably losing the 20 seconds or so that I could have had that would have helped me break 26:00. Oh well. In a month, I've cut over 2 minutes from my 5K time, I'm very pleased! Post race
Warm down: It was raining pretty good by the time the race was finished... just grabbed some water and walked back to the car, which I had parked at the downtown library. What limited your ability to perform faster: I might have used a little more rest... perhaps I shouldn't have ridden my bike yesterday. Oh well! Event comments: I'm getting better at this racing thing, I expect my times to improve as I learn how I can push my body! Last updated: 2006-03-18 12:00 AM

Got up at 5:30, ate a waffle. At the race, ate a cookie and drank some Gatorade.
Light jogging around downtown Jackson, very slow pace.
