Comments:

Overall a very good run. Having never run a competitive 10mi race I really didn't know what kind of strategy to have for the race. Since it was essentially a suped up training day, I went in with the following plan....
Run with brad, try to post a 1:15 or better and try to keep HR at the following;
miles 1-3: Z1 to Z2
miles 3-7: Z2
miles 8-10: Z2 - Z3

Run went pretty much according to plan. I was a little concerned after the first two miles since I pretty much skipped Z1 and went right to Z2, but the pace felt good. The first 1/2 of the Rock Creek Pkwy (~mile 4-6.5) was a slight net uphill with a tad of headwind. After we hit the turnaround at 6.5mi, it was nice. Mentally getting to mile 7 was great...then I knew I could pick it up a bit...we coasted through miles 8 and 9 and then picked it up quite a bit for the last mile to finish strong.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing really. Raced the plan I had in place.
Post race
Warm down:

Some stretching and then brad and I walked back up the course to find kristin. We jogged most of the last mile with her.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

In hindsite, probably coulda picked up the pace around mile 5 or 6 instead of waiting till the end, but I was very happy that my race plan worked well.

Event comments:

Very well organized with tons of volunteers. Shuttle service was surprisingly painless.

Nice "training" run.  Be fun to see what you guys could do if you actually raced it.

Thank you everyone for all the kind words.

Not sure what kind of time I coulda posted if I raced it. Outside of running 5K for XCountry in hs and the tris last year, I never ran any races. This distance was new to me. I could see myself going too fast early, burning out and running an overall slower time or maybe I coulda kept a slightly higher pace throughout and I coulda knocked off a minute or two. Since all the training has been primarily endurance and not speed work, I don't think I could've posted that much of a better time.

I was definitely happy with the way I felt over the last cpl miles. Makes me really eager to race the Devilman. I should be able to have great improvement from last year (it was my first tri ever) and hopefully post a nice time.
