Comments: I tried to go out comfortable, but my first 1/2 mile I was almost even with the woman I knew would win the whole thing, so I tried to go a little slower. In last 1/2 mile, I started to get a stitch. Then some man said "live up to your #1 seed!" Although we both know I wasn't seeded #1, it helped me move a little faster. Transition 1
Comments: I REALLY need to learn how to swing over my saddle with one foot on the pedal. Bike
What would you do differently?: I need to work on strength and speed, as well as confidence with turns. Transition 2
Comments: Their timing chips show overall placement for transitions too. I was actually 2nd place overall for my transition! Run
Comments: Caught all the women who finished ahead of me in that pack. Unfortunately, there were a few others who were ahead of that pack! It was starting to get really hot as the sun got higher in the sky. Post race
Warm down: Drank endurox, got my pseudo-sink shower. Still needed to get to church. What limited your ability to perform faster: Heat, as well as long training ride, run and swim this week. Almost at longest week for the Sweden race. Last updated: 2004-05-30 12:00 AM

Had some coffee before I left the house. I did really well in my last sprint after having coffee. Got stuff set up in transition area, double checked my spot by running in to the bike from the first run entrance to make sure I could find it easily. Someone put a big pink ribbon at the end of our rack. That made it easy. Picked up my race packet. My race number was #1!! That's a lot of pressure for someone who knows she's not going to win! I'm keeping that number bib forever.
Jogs to the b-room (had to get rid of some of the coffee!), some light sprints. Hot day, had to sip more water and fluid than usual.
