possum - 2006-04-12 3:51 PM I love BT becasue I have never had so many boyfriends in my life, even if one in particular who happened to start this thread neglected to mention me and I have never felt so jealous secure and safe and at peace in my friendships...

I only mentioned the ones I've met in real life. I mentioned everyone I *wanted* to meet IRL, first, the list would be too long, and second, I'd mention one or two people like a hundred times. You can figure out who you are.

Well if that's the case, you forgot to mention wyecrab and Joel (FRb_3).  We met them at VA Beach!

Yep...you're right! I know I didn't mention everybody (I really should keep a list or something). Joel was cool enough to take Janelle and I for an OWS in the Chesapeake before the RnR Half Marathon last summer. And of course Glenn treated us to pre-race dinner at their condo IN VA Beach!

Just two more examples of why I ♥ BT!

I was doing some more thinking about this thread last night, late after I got back from poker. And yes, I did have a few beers in me so I was in a thoughtful mood.

This thread was inspired by reading Jess' IMAZ race report, and reliving her experience with Aaron, Liz and Haley, and by seeing the threads associated with the weekend (like Haley's live report). Reading those words and seeing those pictures was a "wow" moment for me. It made me realize that people like Haley and Chippy make this place what it is.

No offence to Aaron and Jess, but anyone can enter and do a race...it's something triathletes do (don't hate me for saying that guys...what you two did in Tempe was amazing in it's own right, and I'm truly humbled by your accomplishments). But from my perspective, what really made their day was what Liz and Haley did, selflessly, for them.

Think about it: what kind of person flies or drives for hours, incurs a lot of personal expense, and devotes themselves totally to support their friends for hours and hours? Well...those guys do. And it's pretty freaking awesome.

I'm only in it for the cookie dough.

Oh fine, I'm in it for the good times, too. And the amazing feeling you get when you watch your friends do something incredible.

But the sympathy carbo loading is pretty awesome too.

That picture's awesome. Haley looks like a 5yo kid doing something she know's she not supposed to, but you look all contemplative, like you're trying to figure out the perfect spoonful for the highert chip-to-dough ratio.

Jim thanks for your post. It made me tear up. I think its the most wonderful feeling to be out in a race, hurting and looking forward to seeing a familiar face, thats why I do it. Oh and its really fun too, I really do enjoy it. Anyway, I'll be doing the same for you in FL my friend!

I even put up with the couple lbs. gained from the sympathy carbo loading and post race celebration. The things I sacrafice.

May I add...notice the garlic bread in the background. I was almost done cooking dinner when Chippy pulled out the cookie dough. I fussed her (southern thing sorry) and said she'd ruin dinner. I didn't even get trough cutting the first pieces when I couldn't resist... "f*ck it."
