I hit that enter button to soon again.

I got the official time back and it was quite disappointing. I guess I need to train more that is all there is to that.

I will do a race report as soon as I summon up the courage to post times that are this pathetic. :-)

But the thing is .... you felt "OK" about your race. OK if a fine way to feel especially in crappy weather you had. Don't let the numbers get you down too much. You did it and hopefully had some fun while doing it. And it is a lifestyle of fitness we are after after all! Now you have another goal to reach for. Appreciate your own efforts and celebrate!

How did you do in relation to everyone else who raced?

I hope you aren't comparing yourself to some of our forum posters who turn in some really fast times, but are comparing yourself just to you. Your next race will be better, I promise.

Thank you Aikane,

No, I was comparing the race to my past performances.

I was disappointed that there was not that much of a performance upgrade in time.

But the weather was bad and I know it will get better.

As you get faster, it gets harder to set new PB's. If you got a time, you finished and sometimes that's all the day has to give. Gives you a target for the next one.

No!!! Don't be disappointed!!! There is an element of timing and racing to this sport, of course, and goals and whatever...but the true exhiliration and FUN comes from just getting out there and pushing yourself... and kicking your own A** and not giving up, and sweating like there's no tomorrow... I think I'd do it all even without an official time... I used to be very hung up on the numbers of it all... but there's not time then to enjoy what you're actually doing, if you get all wound up in the number crunching.... Just go out there and do your best every time... sometimes Mother Nature conspires against us. It happens... Do your best... Push hard, train, race, and do your best!!!
But try not to get too caught up in the numbers.

Roy - my man!  It's all perspective - my first event is coming up. Everyone (like you) who has a tri of any kind if my hero right now - I am trying to tell myself (actually yelling at myself now and then - as a serious type A) - finishing is good and having fun is the point. My wife keeps me on track by letting me know when I am turning the sport (that has given me a new way to live) - into a "job"  (that was teh old way to live.)

Good for you!!  You are ahead of about 99% of the population!
