Subject: RE: Tempe International Triathlon - Olympic TriathlonTraining here is going well also; the days I can get it all in around the thunderstorms and my law school schedule. I will be ready though. My first Olympic distance -- if I make it out of the water I'll be set. It will be warm, but I doubt as warm as last year -- the temp. that day last year broke a record that was about 20 years old and was one of the hottest days on record in the Phoenix area for May. The worst part about the heat that day is it was already 100 by the time the age group sprint race was ending around 10:30, and was over 105 by the time the ITU men and women were finishing. HOT, HOT, HOT Definitely don't plan on a wetsuit. They weren't allow last year and the water had been flowing until about 6 weeks before the race - this year, as far as I know, they have not had the damn open at all. Well, I just checked the water conditions for the lake and the water actually seems to be a little cooler than last year. The last reading on the site is for March 20th and shows the water temp. at ~ 59 -- last year on relatively the same date it was ~ 62. It made 80 by race day last year. If you want to keep an eye on the water conditions at Tempe Town Lake they post them at this website: http://www.tempe.gov/lake/Water/water_main.htm All we can do is hope for a water temp. readings of about 76 degrees and an air temp of about 70 at race start and in the 80s on the run! Take care - keep on training. See ya all race day. -- hey, speaking of are we going to set up a BT meet and greet at the race? - Tim Edited by SwmBkRn 2006-04-23 8:59 AM
