Subject: Not Thankful for Nashbar

This is the second time I had problems with Nashbar.  The first time they just "failed" to process my order and when I resubmitted the order the items were not available.

This time I took advantage of one of their many sales and purchased a pair of rollers and added some "on sale" gloves to meet the dollar amount requirement for the free shipping.  They apparently didn't like the address I submitted so I contacted them and corrected the situation.  However, they emailed the correct address from dept. to dept. for over a week.  In which time they sold out of the rollers that I ordred.  No backorder, not getting the rollers.  Talked to everyone and their mother and finally got an email saying there is nothing they can do and I'll get a refund in X amount of weeks.

Best part, they sent me the gloves....at full price with full shipping.  Since I'm still in Japan, I now need to have my brother go to the house get the gloves and mail them back, like he doesn't have anything better to do.

Thanks for nothing Nashbar.

I'm Thankful there are other online stores that sell rollers.

(vent over)

Well I (any many others) had my credit card number stolen from the Nashbars database a few years ago so you can be thankful that didn't happen!  For my "inconvience" they gave me a 30% off coupon good for like two weeks.  Yeah...didn't use it.

That never use to happen. Arnie Nashbar built a business based on low prices, fast delivery, and great customer service. Calling their customer service was like calling up a cycling friend, I never worried about a purchase from them. There was even a time that I missed the sale date, and they still gave me the sale pricing. Performance Bike was their big competitor, it was a good rivalry. Performance was owned by a financial concern I believe, and just couldn't match up to Nashbar, so they bought them. Now both of the companies are crap. I still get both their catalogs, but haven't purchased anything from them for years. What turned me off was an order screw up that I can't remember, but still bothers me to this day and I don't really think about buying from them anymore.

I wonder if Arnie is still alive?

I have never had any problems with Nashbar except for once and their customer service department fixed it immediately. I would not say I am "thankful" for them but it is a good store nevertheless from my experience

Bought some shorts and a seat from them a couple years ago and my son recently bought a road frame from them ( loves it ) and didn't have a problem.  Hopefully they are isolated cases because I want to build up a cheap roady race bike with one of those sub $100 white alum frames.

i stopped using them after ordering a new gruppo and having it shipped fedex.  it never arrived, but they said it was signed for so sucks to be me.  Thankfully the credit card cancelled the charge as they were not going to (over $700 too).  I even went as far ask asking my Fedex guy if he'd dropped it off and maybe it was lifted and he said that he had had no packages for me in that time frame.  Nashbar still refused to refund to the credit card.  Plus, they refuse to comply with my request to stop sending catalogues through catalogue choice and it took about 6 months for them to unsubscribe me from emails.

I've only ordered from them twice, but had no problems.  I just received an order from them a few weeks ago - it was their riser for trainers which I really like.

generally good luck with nashbar.  I had one problem with a large order, didn't hear from them, and seemingly the order didn't get processed. After sending a bunch of emails, and calling, I found they put it on hold because of the high amount (was only like $1K). Finally got it "approved" and they shipped it. But it was a hassle.

I do like their sale prices. Got very good deals on Shimano parts.

I ordered their steel frame cross bike, they screwed up the order, thenthe price went up, then they refused to accept my credit card so I scrapped the whole order and bought locally.
Performance usually has similar items ans almost the same prices, plus they have a store like 5 miles from my house and they will match Internet prices if I need something that day.

Many orders with Nashbar over several years, no problems. Much of my cycling gear was purchased there. In fact, they're my "go-to" source for cycling stuff. Great prices, good quality products.

They're catching a bunch of carp in this thread, so had to mention my thankfulness.

Have had success with Nashbar... they were "hacked" around the time I purchased a lot of stuff from them, but thankfully my CC never got charged like others experienced.

The deal there was the Credit Card processor for Nashbar was compromised... technically not Nashbar's fault, but they sure didn't really own up to it other than handing out 30% coupons.

That could happen with many online vendors though, will order from them again...
