Pre-race routine:

woke up about three times last night the dogs had to go out but never at the same time!!!! Did not do anything special this morning, got dressed and drove to Tampa 20min across the bay.
Event warmup:

Picked up my race packet used the goss-o-potty and. 15 min before the start took a GU and a few sips of water.
Run
  • 25m 32s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 13s  min/mile
Comments:

I am not used to running that distance I have to take my self out of my comfort zone an pick up the pace, I was winded the entire run!!! I was not going to be the 101st women to cross the finish and not get my medal!
Did not take water at the water-stop, Dont think I need it in a 5k. This was a PR for me so I am happy with the time and overall had a great run.
What would you do differently?:

Start closer to the front and do more speed work to get faster.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked a minute to get my heart rate down, got my medal, a bananna and water. ran into Jeff and we cheered Adam as he crossed the finish. As we were standing on the field, Jeff and I realized we were standing at the 50 yard line of Raymond James Stadium, home of the Buccaneers!!!!!!!!! Being a huge Buc's fan I just wanted to roll around on the grass but I held back so I would not look like to big of a dork.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of speed work.

Event comments:

I was very happy to meet Jeff and Adam today. I got my medal and I ran through the tunnel on to the football field at the Ray-J what more could I ask for.

Performance: Good
Course: Flat and a bit croweded for the 1st mile. I kept getting blocked in. I guess I should be like all the rest of the runners and go to the front at the start. Why does no one listen to the announcement "If you are not a fast runner please do not start in the front" I ran side to side for at least the first 1/2 mile.
