Is there any place in the east valley where there is open water to swim in? I am current a member of Fitness Works gym and their pool is only 14 meters long. Are there swim groups or anything like that? Thanks for the help.

Butcher Jones at Saguaro Lake. Rattlesnake Cove at Bartlett Lake. Bit chilly right now but if you want to go some Sunday morning post something here. I'm sure there are a few folks crazy enough to OW swim this time of year.

Brrrrr, OWS even in Phoenix is going to be a test of your moxie.  Even TTL is about 55 degrees right now (not that you can swim in it anyway), which makes Bartlett about 50.  You might want to check out the local public pools - most of them are about $2-$3 during open swim times.

Check out the Chandler city website- Hamilton and Mesquite both have public swims multiple times during the week for a few $- i think they might even sell a punch card.

And yeah, Fitness Works pool is terrible.

Thanks for all the responses guys. I guess I wasn't thinking temperature for some reason. I mights save the lakes for when it gets warm again. Hamilton high is fairly close to me, I think that would be perfect.

Hamilton High does lap swim in the morning from like 5-7AM, M-TH .  $2 (or maybe $2.50) each time.  Mesquite (riggs and val vista) does the same from from 7-9PM M-Th.  Pools are heated too!

There's a Masters swim group (Desert Thunder) at Chandler High's pool.  Mon-Fri mornings at 5:30, and Mon-Thur evenings (don't recall time).  Bryan Crane is the coach and he's awesome!!!  Pool is heated.  He has people of all levels, and has different workouts all going at once depending on your skill level.  MOrning workouts are coached, evening workouts is open.

That's awesome Tri, I think I am going to check that out. I am new to swimming and have been doing it on my own for the last couple of months, and while I am getting better, I don't know if I am swimming correctly. Thanks

Another plug for my man Bryan at Desert Thunder at Chandler High. He will turn you into a swimmer. He is patient and can correct any flaws in your stroke.
