Pre-race routine:

Woke up @ 6:30, no drinking, no eating, headed over to the race.
Event warmup:

Stretched. I normally don't stretch too much before an event, but I'm still feeling a little tight from St. Anthony's.

Comments:

I had a good run. Still fighting my cold, but winning that battle. I got a lot of sleep finally, and I think that helped.
What would you do differently?:

I don't know why I do this to myself, but I start where I think I should, and that is usually middle of the pack. As is typical, I had to fight my way through slower runners for the first 3/4 mile. I'm not fast fast, but perhaps I should think about starting these types of runs toward the front of the pack.

Warm down:

Walked around, had a slice of Elwoods Pizza.. fantastic.. oh, and a banana.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I don't know. This cold I have.. maybe?

Event comments:

Nice event. Some 650 runners for a first time 5k. Well done. Big Peach is a great organization / runningstore for the Atlanta area. Beats the competition hands down. As far as races go, I think this is just the beginning for them.

Course: A loop through some nice neighborhoods on the brokehaven ($500k homes) side of brookhaven($1 mill + homes) in Atlanta. Typical Atlanta area hills. The finish was at the top of a medium sized, but steep hill. That was interesting. Rarely do you finish a run going up a steep hill.

Awesome job Ron!  Way to battle through your cold of the last few days and still post a great time.

You were missed out at the Comet - hopefully you'll get those other miles in some other time.
