Looks like they're keeping it in September...  Anyone do it last year (i know the course is changing)? planning on it?  9/23

I was looking at it but with the potential move to August it conflicted.

I have been planning on this race being August 19.  I was going to do the Aquabike.  I even looked today at the date and it said August, now its September?!?!  Guess I need to re-write my training plan.  Bummed out.

The date change is actually  better for me, I'm in!  Might have done it last year, better that I didn't, I was not ready for it.  According to several friends, it was a brutal run course and about a mile longer then it should have been.  My understanding is they changed the run course after lots of groans from the athletes, it is flatter and faster.  Works for me, I need all the help I can get.  I do look forward to the Ortega Hwy. bike ride, coming down should be a blast!

Hey all:   I'll sign up for this if I don't win the Kona lottery on April 15.  I doubt if it will sell out before then (could be wrong).  I'm stoked on the course change.  The run last year was brutal on my old joints.  The much flatter run will be a good training run for IMAZ

bike is the same, so how was it?   Just a slog straight up for 28 then 28 downhill?  What's the grade and road surface like?  Never been on Ortega Cyn

Bike is NOT the same.  Last year the swim was at Salt Creek.  This year at Doheny.  Different transition and therefore a different first few miles.  Stonehill is gone!!!!!   For the new course the first 7 miles will be relatively flat (from beach, past my house at mile 5, and then a couple more miles to the Ortega / Antonio intersection).  Then, the next 15 or so (my guess from last year) are rolling ... but of course more up than down.  The last 6 to the turn around are a big time climb.  Reverse back down.  At least the new course doesn't have the "Stonehill climb" like last year at mile 54.

I'm planning on this being my first "HIM". Did it last year as a relay (I swam) but definitely looking forward to the bike on Ortega Cyn as well as the new run course.
