Subject: Anybody wear a trisuit for a marathon?
I am starting a marathon program, looking at April (maybe Charlottesville).  I have gotten some pretty bad chafe from regular running clothes (thighs, and especially the shirts at the nips) on longer runs.  Now I train mostly in tri shorts / tight shirt.  I wore compression shorts and a tri top for a half marathon last fall and I was fine (no chafe).  Trisuit was even more comfortable during HIM run a few years ago.  I know it isn't "usual" in the running crowd but has anyone here worn tri clothes for a marathon?

Dunno about a tri suit but I've seen many a tri short and compression shirt at every running event I've been to in the past few years.

I always wear spandex running tights under shorts for every run and a compression shirt for over about 8-9 mile runs. Never had an issue with the bleeding nipple syndrome with that.

I wear my tri top for races with compression shorts or tights and running shorts over.

I like using a tri top for long runs for the pockets but I wouldn't use a full tri suit. The small chamois would bother me after a while

Haven't done it for a marathon, but plan to.  Done it for every distance below that.

I'll be the one to go against the grain and say no.  I've never done it.  I only wear a tri suit for triathlons.  The only reason I even wear a tri suit (not a one peice, but tri shorts and tri top) is because I can wear it through all 3 disciplines.

I wear normal running shorts and shirts for running races.  I've never had a chafing problem, just use Body Glide in the right areas.  That includes the nipples for the run.  I've never had a problem with chafing as long as I remember to put on the Body Glide or similar lubricant.

For me, wearing tri shorts wouldn't have any affect on the particular areas of my body that tend to rub against itself and cause chafing.  So, no real reason to wear it for a normal running race.

I'd recommend trying compression shorts under your running shorts.  I bet you'd get the same benefits of the Tri shorts without the extra padding that's unnecessary for a marathon.
