Pre-race routine:

I had a bagel with peanut butter. Started drinking water and my premade infinit drink. I met up with “dare2trimom” Michelle) and her twin sisters, yes they are twins and sisters. We all drove over to the subway which takes you to the start of the race. Once we got to the start we then met up with “the gomer” (Steve).
Event warmup:

Not much of a warm up the holding area is so packed with people it's hard to get a decent warm up so i just did some light stretching.

Comments:

My race plan was the same as last weekends ½ mary go out easy (zone 1) the first 4 miles, the pick it up the next 3 ( upper zone2) and then the last 3 try to pick up the pace even more (zone 3 +). For those who read my race report on the Runners World ½ Marathon know that I tried and failed at this plan. Last week I wore headphone for the very first time ever during a race. I feel the headphones played a major role in me not having the race I hoped for last week. Needless to say I didn’t wear headphones for this race. The race started out with a lot of runner traffic, after about mile 3 or so I would say it loosened up. A few minutes into the race I saw that my HR was not recording so I had to stop and reset my watch, and I missed the 1st mile marker, so my HR data isn’t dead on.
The first 4 miles kept an easy pace with “the gomer” with “dare2trimom” only a few paces behind us. I guess we were keeping about a 8:25 pace. At mile 4 I picked up the pace for the next 3 miles, I was keeping a 7:48 pace or so. At mile 8 I tried to pick up the pace again, which I was able to do, now I was holding a 7:42 per mile. I crossed the line with a time of 1:20:27. It was a PR for me!!! It was a good race I had a lot of fun with “the gomer” “dare2trimom” and her twin sister. I also saw “liv2tri” (Megan)

What would you do differently?:

i don't anything i had a plan and stuck with it. Maybe i would try to run a little hard those last 3 miles.
Post race
Warm down:

didn't do much of anything. Just talked about all the funny things we saw along the race course.

Event comments:

Great job John!  Glad you were able to get out there quick and shake-off any disappointment you had from the 1/2.

Nice run, John.  The odds of finding someone among 15,000+ runners are pretty slim.   I had a good race also, and exceeded my goal.
