Comments: They had to extend the course to 13.4 miles to accomodate a funeral in the city of Auburn. Fine with me since there wasnt going to be a PR in this race. I was severly undertrained and we decided pretty much last minute to do it. We had discussed running 8:15, but as it always happens the gun goes off and the plan gets thrown out. The run itself was the hilliest run I ever ever run. I also never train on gravel country roads. Those hurt me as well. The 19 degrees wasnt so bad until after the finish when I was pretty sure I had frostbite on my hands. What would you do differently?: Nothing. We all knew going into it we werent going to PR. We had fun and finished feeling pretty good.  Post race
Warm down: Post frostbite fear, we went to get our finishers sweatshirts(purple FTL). Reece and Patrick had to to swim at a masters swim meet 2 hours post race. Suckers. What limited your ability to perform faster: 1st race of the season and I havent run more than 10 miles in about 2 months. Event comments: More bathroom options pre and post race would be nice. there were no bathrooms on course. I didnt need them, but I can imagine some people did. there was no direction at the finish on where to walk the three blocks to get finishers sweatshirts and food(and heat). Oops) but I wasn't too far back of ya! Good race thou, very hilly for my first half, just hope we all don't get sick after the cold weather! Nice run, maybe next time a little BT meetup or something... |

Met Reece in Lawrence then drove to Auburn to meet with Patric(Jayhox) where he drove us to the start in Topeka. Reece checked in and Patrick and I ran to McDs to use facilities.
Stretched a bit to keep warm since it was 19 degreees and overcast.
