Tricalifornia Events, Inc.
Sunny
Total Time = 2h 57m 52s
Overall Rank = 649/
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 123/
Pre-race routine:

Oatmeal, banana, peanut butter on a slice of bread, bottle of Gatorade. Half a gel about 30 minutes before start time.
Event warmup:

About two minutes of swimming.
Swim
  • 28m 56s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 46s / 100 yards
Comments:

Felt relatively calm the whole time. Very pleased with my spotting and consistent swimming. Switched to breast stroke or side stroke three or four times for 30 seconds or so each.
Transition 1
  • 02m 47s
Comments:

Very pleased.
What would you do differently?:

Have another towel. I layered my gear in one towel--bottom layer for run, top for bike. Should have had another towel for wiping off my feet.
Bike
  • 1h 25m 37s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 17.41 mile/hr
Comments:

Not too bad for a rented bike with no aero bars! Totally dug the responsiveness of the TCR Zero compared to my older bike.
Transition 2
  • 01m 59s
Run
  • 58m 33s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 09m 26s  min/mile
Comments:

Tired... Didn't eat any gels as I had an upset stomach at this point. Definately very tired.
What would you do differently?:

Force myself to eat during the first half of the run.
Post race
Warm down:

Walk. Apple slices. Water. Egg roll. Gatorade.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Mental. I could have pushed myself physically on the run, but I didn't overcome the feeling of being super-tired. Need to work on digging deep in competition.

Event comments:

Beat my goal of 3 hours. HR was in the low to mid 170's the whole race, very pleased with that. Overall, very happy with my performance on a tough course. Can't believe I finished top half of my age group!
