Pre-race routine:

Got there nice and early. Walked around, stretched, checked out the bike porn, bitched about the wind with Ryan.

Event warmup:

Solid 30 minutes on the trainer, then took the bike off and rode around the park area a little for another few minutes.

Comments:

Good race for me tonight. Still can't get my time down around that first race, but I was very happy to go under 26 minutes in that freakin' howling wind. Coming around the first corner, I was going 32 mph and the wind smacked me from the side and almost pushed me off the road. Nasty. Anyway, I just tried to stay tucked in tight on the bike and not let the wind affect me mentally too much.

What would you do differently?:

Warm down:

Huh? Brick run, 20 minutes at 10K pace, 10 minutes at Z1. No HRM tonight, so I just went hard on the run. Completed almost the entire 5K course in the 20 minute fast paced effort, so my pacing was good, and then ran with Ryan for most of the last 10 since he was doing a Z1/2 run. The run was hard, miserable for the first 10 minutes off the bike, and then just really uncomfortable after that. But that's just from a pacing and breathing perspective, my IT band felt fine tonight.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Wind. I think I could have come close to that first week time tonight if not for the wind.
