Pre-race routine:

As coordinator, I had the duties of making sure support vehicles were stocked, fueled, and ready to go. Handled last minute entries and so forth. My pickup was the SAG Wagon, so I spent most of the relay driving support.

Comments:

Law Enforcement Torch Run is a benefit relay to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics. Law Enforcement Officers run torches from each corner of the state, and bring them into the opening ceremony for the summer games.

Much to the relief of my participants I assigned myself to wht was possibly the most feared leg... it was a 12 mile climb up a steep hill, on a bike into a heavy headwind. Was able to draft somewhat off of a support vehicle.

Let another runner who was wanting to "put in his miles" have my run leg.
What would you do differently?:

Put in a request for less wind.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Doing a tri the day before and of course, the wind.

Event comments:

Had good turn out and received positive feedback from participants.

Good job, and for a great cause!  My niece is going to be named athlete of the year from her region in northern NM on Friday during the opeing of the games.  So, thank you for coordinating your end and bringing awareness towards this cause.

Congratulations to your neice. I'm hoping Chief will ok it for me to go to Albuquerque Friday to run the final leg at the opening ceremony.
