So who's in for the White Lake Sprint?


This will be my second year for this race.  I had a good race last year, especially since it was only my second ever triathlon. This year, I plan to improve in every aspect of the race, especially the swim.


I hope everyone's training is going well.

I'm signed-up.

I wore a wetsuit last year, but wished that I hadn't - the water really wasn't that bad.

I raced without a wetsuit last year since I didn't have one, but it was wetsuit legal. The water temps are always close to the limit, so if you have one, bring it just in case. I was just fine without one, but I was one of only a few without one, and the time disadvantage was noticable. I plan to wear mine this year.

I should be there ... if all goes well in training.  I don't know about wetsuits this year due to all the warmth.  We'll see.

I don't want to have to spend the money on a wetsuit or wetsuit rental. Also, as a swimmer, I feel smothered by the wetsuit.

Does anyone know if they repaved that section of road by the police station and camp clearwater entrance? The cracks in the road are horrible. If its not repaved watch out for launched water bottles and GU flasks. I hope everyone has a great day out there!!

Just posted this on the White Lake Half thread:

Everyone keep your fingers crossed that NC DOT does not run out of money....lots of road paving going on down here at White Lake.  Hwy 701 has been freshly paved and just talked to Benji Jones and he said they are paving the road around the lake.  Also, he **thinks** they are paving Hwy 53 as far as the money will let them...........
