All of you have really touched me and inspired me, and I will do my best to get back to each one of you who has responded to the multiple Yanti threads, PMed me, inspired me, FBed me, e-mailed me, texted me etc. I am deeply humbled. The last few days have been a tremendous experience.

Unfortunately, the Kona Inspired contest rules state:

"3) Eligible Persons. Each individual entering the Contest (each, an “Entrant&rdquo, at the time of entry: (a) must be at least 18 years old; (b) must be a U.S. resident domiciled in any U.S. state or the District of Columbia;"

I am sure that is for legal/tax reasons, but I am not currently a U.S. resident actually domiciled there (I could make a case for being a California resident, but clearly not for being domiciled there!). I can send the media director as well as the Kona information person e-mails asking for clarifications or exceptions, but the rules are pretty clear and comprehensive.

Charity slots are another possibility, but they go for an average of $40,000 and I think this year with Lance almost certainly going that the auction prices will be considerably higher.

There's a chance for me to get into IM Western Australia as I have a contact who may be able to help whom I e-mailed tonight.

Again ... I am overwhelmed and definitely not deserving of all this. I have had a joyously fun trip and experience and I can't thank you enough.

I am of the "It can't hurt to ask" camp. Good grief the only reason (that I know of) that you left the US was to take care of your parents and HELLO it's the WORLD Championship. And what percentage of us here on BT are US domiciled? I think the majority - for what you do for our sport ASK! We'll back you 1,000%

You really are an incredible soul. {MELON PRESS} And ... Kona is warm

I thanked you in the Tri Talk response but strangely that line disappeared here ... the formatting got messed up when I inserted quotes from the ironman website.

I will ask. And link these threads ... big yay to marmadaddy for the "like" and "share" buttons! I will also see if I can't find an actual human being that someone knows at WTC that I can write to personally.

aww, You can live with me!  And please, you think you could do Kentucky? I have a room to share!   This one will be hot enough!

Sounds like the right decision was made. I know you would have kept going, but I'm glad you are safe and sound.  Sometimes our hearts don't always tell us the right thing to do, and our brains have shut off.

Kind of random, but just to give you an idea ... people were freaking out about how cold St. George was and how cold the water at IM CDA were ... at 53 F and 56 F respectively ...

Yesterday in Frankston (swim and bike location south of Melbourne) the water and the air temp were below 52 F. I really wouldn't have stood a chance except maybe in a drysuit and a snowsuit. I talked to one of the organizers tonight and he said that several people (including locals) were pulled from the swim, several from T1, and a good handful from the bike with hypothermia.

Yeah, those are actually ideal hypothermia conditions.  Especially once you start generating wind on the bike.  Impressive you made it so far given you are use to much warmer conditions.

I was curious as to what the temps were to give you hypothermia and I just read that they were below 52! wow thats crazy cool. You are an inspiration to me and I am sure to other people here on BT. I am proud of you for making it that far in such horrible conditions. Just know that you definately got what it takes to be an ironman and you will crush it at your next race!!! you go girl

That's perfect weather in Colorado, but not with humidity and not if you are not used to it. I know a few Colorado folks that did CDA and they really struggled with water temps. You can plan the plan, but you can't plan the outcome. Sometimes Mother nature wins. You did an awesome job. I really hate being cold... not sure how I would have handled that.

I did a HIM swim in 53-degree water before and that was breathtakingly cold. No way would I want to do a full Iron swim in that. As others have said, sometimes Mother Nature wins. Nothing you can do about that. I wish you much better luck at your next attempt. We're all pulling for you!

I recall the B2B swim in 2010 being around 60 in the water, and that was a bit chilly, even for my hairy chest.  Being a tri-hottie only can help warm you so much, especially because you lose the chest hair buffer.  The only thing that can really help in those temps is to have a hot tamale moment in your wetsuit every few hundred yards.
