Pre-race routine:

Trying not to freeze. Trying to keep my stuff from flying away in transition area.
Event warmup:

Visualization of race, especially of T1.
Swim
  • 12m 39s
  • 500 yards
  • 02m 32s / 100 yards
Comments:

Felt wooden and was having a hard time getting my breathing under control.
What would you do differently?:

Focus more on my technique and relax.
Transition 1
  • 03m
Comments:

Since it was so bloody cold out, I put on a shirt and jacket over my tri top. Putting socks on wet feet went surprisingly well.

  • 12 miles
  • 13.21 mile/hr
Comments:

First 1/2 was about 19.5 minutes, second 1/2 was 35 minutes due to strong headwinds on the return trip.
What would you do differently?:

Make the wind stop blowing on the way back.
Transition 2
  • 02m 10s
Run
  • 39m
  • 3.27 miles
  • 11m 56s  min/mile
Comments:

Crampy legs during run held me back a lot.
What would you do differently?:

Drink more on the bike.
Post race
Warm down:

packing up my gear.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

high winds, crampy legs, lack of serious training time.

Event comments:

This tri is like a fun run. A few who take it too seriously and some who don't take it seriously enough!

This tri is like a fun run. A few who take it too seriously and some who don't take it seriously enough!

I like that!  I'm with the not taking it serious crowd.  LOL!

Great job on your race!!!!!!  Headwinds really do suck!

Yeah Saturday was really a spoiler with such nice weather on Friday. I had numb feet on most of the bike and all of the run.
