Pre-race routine:

Drove to Albuquerque
Event warmup:

Did a little bit of stretching. Mostly hung out and talked to the other officers. Waitend for the four torches (one from each corner of the state) to arrive.

Comments:

This was the conclusion of a state-wide event raising money and awareness for New Mexico Special Olympics.

This final stage was an escorted formation run (complete with cadence)where we ran the torch from downtown to the UNM campus for the opening of the Summer Special Olympics Games. Very casual pace almost walking at some points.

Upon arrival we handed the Torch off to some amazing games competitors and escorted them in for the lighting.
Post race
Warm down:

No warm down. Went to the food tent with the other participants, chowed on some freshly grilled burgers and hung out.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Formation went at a slower pace than I'm used to. (Basically a non-issue)

Great Job!  I was in the stands at the Opening Ceremonies watching my Niece.  She was the yougest female running with you all.  I wish I would've been able to have run it too, but my contacts didn't call me back...there's always next year.  My niece told me she would've like to have run with me around the track too.  Thank you again for taking your time for such a great cause!
