Comments: Did the first 1300 well, pretty even pace, just staying below the red line. Seriously miscounted (150m short) so when I came to listen for the bell indicating last 50m it never came and I started messing up my flip turns and losing focus and develop bad form. What would you do differently?: Count properly. Be a bit more aggressive in the pace per 100m. I am pretty sure I left 15-20 seconds on the table Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: I am terrible at pacing. I think this is about as good a job of pacing I have ever done Event comments: We were 2 per lane. My lane partner was 78years old, trying to stay under 30min, which he did. Quite the inspiration! Last updated: 2012-04-12 12:00 AM

Masters swim meets don't make great race reports but I'm logging it to remember for next time :-)
I registered for Provincials so I could gauge where my swim was at. In the past I swam a 1500m in a race but had a guy next to me pacing me. I really wanted to try and pace one properly myself. I wanted to be right at the threshold and have an even race.
The coach offered me a set of signals to speed up or slow down but I declined. I wanted to do this by feel.
Did a 200m warm up and 50 free in a relay. The thing I hate most about swim meets is sitting around waiting for you wave with no idea when it will occur. I ended up starting at 8:30PM
