Overall Rank = 2/50
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 1/
Event warmup:

jogged a little, ran through transitions, the normal stuff.
  • 04m 31s
  • 229 meters
  • 01m 59s / 100 meters

I paused for 3 seconds at one wall to let a faster swimmer pass. Maybe I shouldn't have because those 3 seconds lost me the race.
What would you do differently?:

need to practice flip turning under lane lines more smoothly. I'd also have swam 2 seconds faster.
Transition 1
  • 00m 41s

nothing special here.
What would you do differently?:

Go 2 seconds faster.
  • 26m 9s
  • 9 miles
  • 20.65 mile/hr

I am very happy with my bike split. It's the fastest women's bike split recorded in the eight years of this race, and it was a power course, which definitely suits my strengths. Still, it was annoyingly rolling and I was glad to be done with it. I flubbed a few turns, but that's what you get when you don't know the course.
What would you do differently?:

Pre-ride the course. Ride 2 seconds faster.
Transition 2
  • 00m 41s

again, nothing special here. It's weird that my T1 and T2 times were identical. Also, I probably lost 2 seconds by almost racking my bike in the wrong place.
What would you do differently?:

Take 2 fewer seconds.
  • 22m 29s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 14s  min/mile

Legs felt great on the run; had upper back pain and some trouble breathing, but really I had a great run. I concentrated on keeping my cadence even and closing gaps between me and the 2 women ahead of me. I caught two out of 3, outsprinting the second woman just before the line.
What would you do differently?:

Run 2 seconds faster.
Post race
Warm down:

walked around a bit. Drank water, ate almonds

Event comments:

2 Seconds. That is all I needed to win. But, hell, I had a great race. It was a ton of fun and a great way to start the season. With a TT start, there's no way really for me to have known to start sprinting 2 seconds earlier, or not to have let the dude pass me on the swim (personally, I think it was the sportsman-like thing to do). This is a fun, low-key event run by a great company.
