Comments:

Good start on the outside at the front, after the second buoy ended up in between groups so had no one to draft off of for a while. Very few bumps. Tended to drift left a bit when I didn't sight as much. Picked up the pace at the end.
What would you do differently?:

Don't forget to sight every 10 strokes or so. Keep an eye for others to draft off of.
Transition 1

Comments:

Woo Hoo! 32nd place overall, 1st in AG on T1! Getting on the bike barefoot and into shoes on the ride was flawless. Got it down pretty good :-)
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Just keep practicing the mounts.

Comments:

I HAMMERED on the bike. Kept passing people, didn't ever go easy (except to take a drink 2 or 3 times). Stood up on a few short hills. Only passed by 2 elite rides, ended up passing everyone else. For a moment I was afraid I might have gone too hard, then turned the corner and was at the end! (Had to really quickly get out of my bike shoes!). 12 miles is a really short bike.
What would you do differently?:

For a sprint this short, nothing.
Transition 2

Comments:

45th overall, 3d in AG. Nice and smooth.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.

Comments:

Difficult course technically with the gravel, trail, dust, and sun. Very hot. Was on the verge of a stomach cramp the whole time, but didn't care, it was a sprint so wanted to push hard the whole time. Dumping icewater on my head at the aid stations was a life saver. Glad I didn't turn an ankle on the rocks.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. I wanted to push hard on the bike to see how it felt.
Post race
Warm down:

Walk around a bit, cheer on my friends.

Event comments:

Awesome race by SetupEvents, especially considering they had to change the venue with only about 3 days notice. The new caterer for the food did a great job, and it was nice to have the party area separate from transition so we could cheer the runners on. Gravel roads were manageable, and they brought back our shoes from the swim start, so that worked out well.

A fun race to start the season with friends.

Great job, very solid race.  You did hammer the bike!

I was curious how well they would handle the venue change and it sounds like they did a great job.
