Subject: my first triathlon
I did it!! I completed my very first triathlon this Sunday. I am soooo happy. It was so much fun. Know I am even more motivated to train harder. I need to work on my run. I think that is my weakest event. Any tips appreciated. Yay. I am glad to officially be a part of the triathlete community!

Congrats!  Welcome to the addiction.  The standard saying for improving your run around here is "run lots, mostly easy, sometimes hard."  For me that means I run 6 days a week and I like BarryP's plan from that other website.  It is a 1-2-3 plan where you take the weekly mileage you run now and divide it by 10 and that is the mileage for your short days.  You multiply that by 2 for your 2 medium runs and multiply that by 3 for your one long run of the week.  So say for instance your currently weekly mileage is 15 miles per week.  Your short run would be 1.5 miles and the next day, day 2, you would run 3 miles, next day, day 3, 1.5 again and the next, day 4, 3 again.  After that you would run 1.5 on day 5 and finally your long run would be 4.5 on day 6.  Then day 7 is a rest day (from running anyway).  I run these all at an easy pace (able to hold a conversation).  You want to increase your distances as you are able and the rule of thumb is that you should not increase your weekly mileage by more than 10% each week.

Thank you everyone. It really is an amazing feeling! And yes, I can see how addicting it is, haha. Thanks for the running advice Trinity. I definitely have to come up with some sort of schedule. I run only two days a week and not that far at all. So for those of you who run 6 days a week, when do you bike and swim?

Thanks again, and I am very glad to be a part of this community

Wow, that seems like a lot of running? Do you ever burn out? I find that my muscles get fatigued if I train the same things back to back. Maybe I just need to keep doing it. I have only been running a couple months. Maybe my diet is lacking in something, because I need more energy. Thanks for showing me your schedule!
