Age Group Rank = 12/28
Pre-race routine:

Took a shower to loosen up. I like to get cleaned up before jumping into dirty water. LOL
Event warmup:

Swam a few strokes.
Run

Transition 1
  • 00m
Swim
  • 13m 40s
  • 500 meters
  • 02m 44s / 100 meters
Comments:

Swam well, did have a lot of pushing hitting and kicking going on. Now that my slow swim is faster than my old slow swim, there are a lot more people around me in the water.

I really did swim good, except for getting ready to round the green buoy instead of the yellow one.

Beat a lot of people out of the water this time.
What would you do differently?:

Not let kicking and pushing bother me. I only let it bother me a little, but when a lady felt like she was grabbing my leg, I did a kicking/shaking motion to get her off of me.
Transition 2
  • 01m
Comments:

Good transition, shirt went on quick. Raced in my USA soccer jersey today.
What would you do differently?:

Nada, good transition.
Run
  • 21m 27s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 06m 54s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt very strong after swimming. I think this is the best start to a run I have had that was right after a swim. The bricks must be helping out!
What would you do differently?:

I had a good strong kick, but let a couple of people that I should have reeled in stay ahead. Should have gone into a full sprint at the end to beat them.
Post race
Warm down:

Water & bananas

What limited your ability to perform faster:

As always the water.... you know the swimming part... I am getting much better though. And my time was over 7 minutes faster than the first Splash & Dash I did on that windy Friday.

Event comments:

Another well put on DCB Adventures race. Tried to convince Gary to have a Guinness for me at the turnaround water stop. He said one day he will probably surprise me and have one there.

It is. Those Thursday swims are helping out a lot. I swam a personal distance record of 2000 meters last Thursday. All the guys were off on a run when I finished and I had to try to catch them.
