Total Time = 2h 53m 38s
Overall Rank = 91/176
Age Group = M35-39
Age Group Rank = 17/24
Pre-race routine:

What is pretty much becoming my standard big breakfast 3 hrs before the start of the race.
Event warmup:

I forgot some stuff in my car and had to hurry to the lake before the wave started. Since it was about a 20min walk and I had about 20mins to go I decided to gentle jog most of the way.
Swim
  • 33m 34s
  • 1500 meters
  • 02m 14s / 100 meters
Comments:

Paced myself fairly well and managed to get my time to within 1min of my predicted best, even though I had a major coughing fit when I got smacked in the head as I was about to take a breath and took a mouthful of water.
What would you do differently?:

Just the same old comment about learning to swim faster
Transition 1
  • 08m 39s
Comments:

The T1 time includes a fairly long run from the water to the transition area of 6:36. However, wetsuit got stuck on my heels which meant t1 was actually about 2:03!
What would you do differently?:

Practice getting the wetsuit off!
Bike
  • 1h 16m 54s
  • 24.1 miles
  • 18.80 mile/hr
Comments:

I was aiming for approx. 18mph with 90% HR effot and I hit 18.8mph with 90% so I think I pretty much nailed the effort level.
What would you do differently?:

Not a lot realy except get more saddle time
Transition 2
  • 00m 51s
Comments:

Pretty smooth T2, maybe jumped off the bike 10ft too early but I can live with that.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 53m 38s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 08m 39s  min/mile
Comments:

I was aiming for 8:27/mile pace but I had to stop a couple of times in the first 3km as my shins needed stretching out pushing my pace to 8:38/mile. This has been happening a few times since I got my new shoes, so I'm hoping it's just a case of wearing them in.
What would you do differently?:

Assuming the shins issue was shoe related, there was nothing I could really have done differently. If it wasn't shoe related, then I guess I have to easy off the effort on the bike a tiny bit next time.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Definitely my shins on the first 3k of the run.

Event comments:

Enjoyable race with a good future - this was the first time it was held.
