It was very hot. At the start it was 72 F, by mile 6 it was 82 by 11:00 it was 87F and 93 at finish. I started at a pace of 10 minute miles and kept my heart rate at 134. As the the heated, I adjusted my pace. I ran with a partner we would run station to station and walk through the aid stations. At about mile 16 he was having a severe heat problem, which became progressive. We walked miles 18 through 22. He sought medical attention at that station. I ran the last 4.2 miles at a 9:15 minute pace.
What would you do differently?:

Train for it!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The heat and helping running partner when he ran into trouble with the heat.

It was a good first Marathon, I would run it again. Only I will train for it

average heart rate 123. I did a very good job with hydration and nutrition. I had a gel every 45 minute ate a shot block going into every aid station averaged 300 cal per hour.
Course: Flat very little shade. On a coller day it would be very fast.
