Hey all,

I'm looking for some help/advice.  My company has me travelling to Westlake the first 2 weeks of August(5-18), and cannot be avoided.  The down side, is I have IM Canada the week after I get back from LA.

On the upside, I'll be in the start of taper, but still have to get qualty workouts and a big Bike/Run Brick the weekend of August 10-11.

Can anyone connect me with some local Tri Clubs, race promotors, so that I can get some info on where to train.  Or can anyone give me any infoon a good 3 hr bike course that is safe in the surrounding area?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hmmm, I work in Simi Valley and do my runs after work around 5:30pm.  Let me know if you'd like to do some training runs together.

The LATri club might be able to assist you.  Pasadena Tri Club as well.  The LATri club has a pretty busy looking calendar.

Awesome riding in the area.  Check out this page for some ride maps.  http://www.sundancecycles.com/RidesLong.html

For running you can run around the lake at about 5.5 per loop.

Safety - ridiculously safe here.  No matter how lost you get you can't wind up in a bad neighborhood.

I'm no help in giving you exact ideas, but I don't think you will have any problems. I work in Thousand Oaks, the town is full of hills and there are cyclists all OVER them! Also, on Saturday mornings there seems to be some kind of organized run- there is always a water station set up at the intersection Lynn and Reino. Maybe e-mail the local tri club and see if they can offer you more information about that.

Out here, it's somewhat of a tradition to do the "Ironman Hell Ride" or its reverse before IM.

You can shorten and flatten it a bit this way

Have fun, and see you in Penticton.
