Age Group Rank = 15/31
Pre-race routine:

woke at 545... banana, bagel, small gatorade mixed w water, water. and a coffee of course
Event warmup:

was hectic here with the rain and had a friend with me for his first triathlon... won't do that again. was good to have him there but took away from my pregame rituals. Was able to get in 20-30 min on the bike and 10 min run, but no swim. Realized I forgot my aero bottle so I took off my water bottle cage since it doesn't fir reglar bottles.. but forgot to tape a tube to my bik. so if I flatted I was SOL.
Swim
  • 18m 11s
  • 880 yards
  • 02m 04s / 100 yards
Comments:

2:04 per 100 is ok for me but I think I was more in the 1:55 camp unless this course was really longer than last years.
What would you do differently?:

nothing... well besides train harder
Transition 1
  • 01m 14s
Comments:

well I got the idea from coach to strip down on the beach before the 200 yd run to T1. I took off the top and when I stopped on the beach and bent over I got vertigo... tried again, dizzzy.... again... dizzy.... so I sat on my butt on the beach and took it off. ... still was a good idea since I was 3/31 in my AG and 28/343 OA in T1
What would you do differently?:

sit down quicker
Bike
  • 33m 45s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 22.10 mile/hr
Comments:

VERY Happy with the bike... came out of water BOP and passed a lot of people on the bike as if they were standing still. 38 OA on the bike and 6 in my AG.Played cat and mouse with the 3rd OA female on the hills... she'd pass me up I'd pass her down.... she caught me at mile 1 on the run
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Transition 2
  • 00m 42s
Comments:

forgot to put my wriststrap on before race so I had to carry my 310 for the run... but again... fast in T2 as in T1... 18 OA and 4th in AG
What would you do differently?:

wrist strap for 310
Run
  • 28m 7s
  • 3.2 miles
  • 08m 47s  min/mile
Comments:

alsmot puked coming out of T2 and my kit was super tight, stuck to me suction tight... not comfortable. Along with my race belt falling down and having to carry my garmin it was a PITA for sure but kept composure.
at 2.5 miles I saw a few of my fellow AGers pass me but I had nothing left to keep up with them. I tried but I knew I was at a good pace. Maybe could have dug deeper but didn't want to risk pulling something or twisting something 6 weeks out of Placid...
What would you do differently?:

not wear my kit... probably could have bettered my run by 1-2 min but that's it.
Post race
Warm down:

walked, met up with the team... coach took first OA, other team mate 2nd OA. Team AGers... 1st FEmale 40-44, 1st female 35-39, 4th male 40-44.. good day for NWT

What limited your ability to perform faster:

all in all good race except for team kit... Plus I beat my time from last year by 7 min and 1 sec..... good day

Great race,  I had a couple friends do that race as well.  You were flying on the bike for sure with a 22mph avg going on.  It looks like your training is going great for LP, way to go!!!

Nice work on the bike man! That's awesome.  Way to be smart about not digging deeper...with LP only 6 weeks away.
