Subject: replace Williams-Sonoma dinner piece

I have the Williams-Sonoma Brasserie (white) dinner set. I recently broke the lid to the sugar bowl. I seriously doubt I'm going to find a replacement lid but thought I'd throw it out there just in case anyone knows of a way to get a replacement lid. Otherwise, I have to  shell out $44 for a new sugar bowl and creamer (when I only need the sugar bowl lid!).

Any help is much appreciated.

I have a set of china from the 60s and have gotten replacement pieces from www.replacements.com  It's a great site......but I wonder if they'd break up a set like a sugar bowl with lid.

Guess you might need to find a person who has broken a sugar bowl and will give you the lid!

Cathy, I tried replacements. They sell only the set, too.

I don't know if there is a Williams Sonoma outlet in Fl, but I know there is one in GA. You can call them and see if they have the bowl and they can ship it to you.

http://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/store_listing.asp?id=16#housewares

Good luck.

I have the bowl. I just don't want to buy a $44 lid.

My bowl is getting pissy with me, too.

Well I know, but I doubt they would sell you just the lid. However, you can buy another bowl/lid for probably $20something from the outlet. Better than nothing or full price right?

Poor bowl. ;(

Maybe learn to deal with the fact that the world is an imperfect place, and accept your sugar bowl for all the good it can do, even without a lid.  Type A personalities went out of style when they all went to jail for lying to be successful.

The buddhist in me says "Yeah..." and the homemaker in me says "You're out of your mind!"

How cute that you smile after you insulted me! Passive-aggressive was never in style, btw.

This is, metaphorically speaking, a special bowl that needs a special lid to complete it and make it whole.  This bowl is something that has learned life's lessons and kept its shine if not its lid.  It has earned its manifest destiny, going into its golden years paired with a unique and yet perfect mate.  I think you're gonna have to make a lid outta clay yourself, Renee.

The homemaker is right.  You live in Florida.  There are lots of bugs in Florida.  Bugs like sugar.  You need a lid.

ps - I looked on E-Bay for you - there's nothing there today.

there's a lid for every sugar bowl.

you may find an attractive lid only to discover the lid already has a bowl in the cupboard.

there may be several lids that look nice, but just don't fit right.

there may be a lid that matches, but is so old and worn it makes the bowl look bad.

one day you will find your lid.

I'm loving the zen feedback. BTW, these are my bowls. The creamer mocks the sugar for it's toplessness.

Yeah, don't worry Renee. There's a 'lid' for every 'sugar bowl'. When you find him it, you'll just know. I just know it'll happen for you, Renee sugar bowl.

No, no no. The creamer loves the sugar for its imperfection, proof of its, uh, humanity. Also, the creamer knows that the sugar completes the creamer.

Also, the sugar asks why it is unacceptable to be missing a lid when it is only useful when the lid is removed.

It's what's in the sugar bowl that's important for heaven's sake, not what it's wearing....yah, right!
