Pre-race routine:

PB&J 3 hours before and Clif Bar 45 minutes before, gatorade Endurance

Event warmup:

Short bike ride and very little run
  • 45m 17s
  • 1500 meters
  • 03m 01s / 100 meters

Wow. Probably the worst thing i have ever done. I know i shouldnt have done this. i was not prepared. I really, truthfully didnt think i was going to make it. If it wasnt for a couple of sandbars on the backstretch i might not have. I was very ill-prepared for this but i did finish so...
What would you do differently?:

Transition 1
  • 02m 11s

not bad
What would you do differently?:

Get there faster. it was weird to only see a few bikes around
  • 1h 26m 51s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 17.17 mile/hr

I did pretty good here. Caught up to the race a little bit. the miles i have ridden this spring have seemed to paid off. feel very strong on the hills.
What would you do differently?:

not drop one of my gatorade bottles
Transition 2
  • 01m 39s
  • 56m 4s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 09m 02s  min/mile

By far my strongest event. caught up a lot here and felt strong all the way to the end. my favorite part of the race for sure
What would you do differently?:

get there faster so i wouldnt be so far behind already
Post race
Warm down:

Walking, recovery shake

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I need to practice my open water swimming if i am going to continue to do events in the open water. It is simple i know but i really sucked on the swim.

Event comments:

The course was only too hard because i cant swim. otherwise this triathlon rocks!!

Good Job Chris ~ Very respectable time.......some of us always have slow swim times

I did the race last year - the bike course is really rough.....not surprised you lost a bottle. You need to give the Tulsa Tri a shot.... The course is a little harder because of a few hills on the bike and run, but since those are your strong events you should do well...... The swim is a two-loop swim in a cove - not too bad. It's a great race.
