FS Series
80F / 27C
Sunny
Total Time = 1h 08m 4s
Overall Rank = 44/216
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 6/27
Pre-race routine:

Woke up @ 5. Light breakfast of coffee and pb&j. Packed car and headed out @ 5:45. The race was close so didn't need to leave too very early.
Event warmup:

Light stretching while waiting in line. Pool was cold.
Swim
  • 05m 56s
  • 250 yards
  • 02m 22s / 100 yards
Comments:

Felt great the entire swim. With the crowded pool it was harder to stay in rhythm. Still need to work on speed. I couldn't leave the person in front of me. We played leap frog in the pool for a couple of laps. But it was still good.
What would you do differently?:

Work more on speed. Mostly everything else was good. No problem with endurance, just cadence.
Transition 1
  • 01m 2s
Comments:

T1 was quick. Didn't have to put on shirt so that reduced my time. Need to continue working on getting clipped in more smoothly.
What would you do differently?:

Mostly all good. Was taking it easy so no complaints.
Bike
  • 38m 23s
  • 12 miles
  • 18.76 mile/hr
Comments:

Felt great for entire ride. Didn't feel winded. Really concentrated on keeping my cadence up. I felt like I was much faster than my time showed. I comfortably passed rider after rider.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. I felt like I hit all my targets for this ride. Maybe a little more speed starting.
Transition 2
  • 00m 48s
Comments:

T2 went pretty smooth. Slight issue again getting left foot unclipped. I need to get new clips I think.
What would you do differently?:

Just continue to practice slipping foot out of shoes while riding.
Run
  • 21m 52s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 03s  min/mile
Comments:

Took off just right. I got into a comfortable pace and felt like I was cruising. Really took it easy. Didn't want to go too hard since I wasn't familiar with the course. The finish was uphill so that was a little tough.
What would you do differently?:

Since this was a low intensity race, I think my pace and effort level was on par.
Post race
Warm down:

It was getting really hot out, so walked for about 1/4 rehydrating.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I do not think there were any limiters to my performance today.

Event comments:

FS did another really good job with this race. The venue is a little small and we were crammed into a smaller transition area.
