Comments:

Not sure what went wrong today. Was positioned in some open space in the front/middle about 1:00 before the start, then everyone decided to converge on me. At the start I got blocked in and had to do some work to get to the line I was going to take from that point. In this time, the swimmer who I was going to stay with got well ahead of me and I never saw her again.

Once I got on my line, everything was relatively smooth. I tried to stay on some feet when I had the chance, but he wasn't on a good line, so I went out on my own.

About 200 into the swim my right arm did a strange "tingly/semi-numb" thing...and I never felt like I was in a great groove.

On the other hand, I really thought I was pushing a good pace. I was never comfortable, but I guess I should have tried to torture myself even more.
What would you do differently?:

Figure out why I'm not putting it all together in a race. Swim harder.
Transition 1
  • 00m 46s
Comments:

Speedy transition...very good at executing in a relay format.
I also think I made up some ground on 1st and 2nd running through transition. The relay racks were pretty far into the transition area, so I knew I was going to have to bring my run.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 45m 25s
  • 16 miles
  • 21.14 mile/hr
Comments:

Nik pretty much nailed it...had the fastest relay bike split and was 17th overall female bike split... pretty impressive for someone without race wheels and no aero helmet. Pretty good engine.
Transition 2
  • 00m 30s
Comments:

Another quick in and out. I positioned Caitlin where I needed her, got the chip from Nik, she racked and sent Caitlin on her way with just a little deficit to make up.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 27m 26s
  • 3.2 miles
  • 08m 34s  min/mile
Comments:

Made up all the time she needed. Was an awesome feeling seeing her come down the sidewalk and no other relay runners in sight. We were pretty sure we took first, but were still caustiously optimistic in case we missed something.

Heck of a run and a good job by the biker and runner to hold up their sinking swimmer.
What would you do differently?:

Caitlin says she still has lots to improve.
Post race
Warm down:

Some stretching, grape Gatorade, banana, and lots of water.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Mental block?
